The Complete Ethiopian Bible in English (Illustrated) is published by Solomon’s Gate Press. It prints the 88 books of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo canon in one English volume, with full-page illustrations.

Most Western Bibles hold 66 or 73 books, so it makes sense to take a proper look before you order. Here are six reasons readers explore this edition. Each one is shown with photos of the printed book, and you can order the hardcover after reasons two, four and six.

What is inside

88 books in print, including Enoch and Jubilees

The printed table of contents, Books 13 to 31, listing Book 16, Jubilees, and Book 17, Enoch

It follows the canon of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, so it prints books many Western Bibles leave out, in canon order:

  • Book 15The Prayer of Manasses
  • Book 16The Book of Jubilees
  • Book 17The Book of Enoch
  • Book 18The Second Book of Enoch
  • Books 21, 22First and Second Esdras
  • Books 27 to 29Meqabyan I, II and III
  • Book 32Psalm 151
  • Book 34The Wisdom of Solomon

These are photos of printed copies, not mockups: two-column text with chapter and verse numbers, footnotes that explain word choices, and full-page Gustave Doré illustrations facing the passages they show.

The hardcover

A gilded hardcover for regular reading and reference

The Complete Ethiopian Bible in English, hardcover edition with gold gilded page edges

The edition to keep on a desk and come back to: gold gilded page edges, a matte cover, a decorated spine and premium paper designed to minimize bleed-through, in standard-size biblical print.

Prefer larger type? The 17-point extra-large-print edition is a separate book, sold on its own.

For study

An introduction, footnotes and a glossary for your own study

The opening page of Book 16, the Book of Jubilees, with a summary paragraph and numbered verses

An introduction and conclusion by Rev. Dr. Rance Settle (MDiv, DMin) frame the tradition, and book summaries with chapter references, footnotes, cross-references and a glossary give you context to read at your own pace.

Included with your copy

Audio files, video lessons and a digital library, by QR code

The Bonus Guide page inside the book, with a QR code and steps to reach the bonus content

A Bonus Guide page in the book holds a QR code and a web address. Scan it to open 100+ hours of audio narration, 150+ hours of video teachings and a digital library of 1,700+ texts.

Good to know: the cover’s “with audiobook & video lesson” seal refers to these QR files. The separate audiobook and ebook are paid products, not part of this order.
